Monday, April 3:
Arnhem - Wijk bij Duurstede
Embarkation for this new journey will take place in Arnhem. As soon as all passengers are on board, we will sail via the Nederrijn to Wijk bij Duurstede. The historic city centre is home to numerous monuments, such as the Grote Kerk, the Rijn & Lek windmill and the old Town Hall on the Markt.
Tuesday, April 4:
Wijk bij Duurstede - Zaandam
During breakfast we leave Wijk bij Duurstede and sail to Zaandam. This afternoon the busses are ready for an excursion to Keukenhof(*). The flower gardens in Keukenhof are a true spring festival; with 7 million bulbous flowers on 32 hectares, the entire park is dominated by fantastic scents and colours. You can walk along and through the beautifully landscaped gardens and water features and enjoy the beautiful flowers.
Wednesday, April 5:
Zaandam - Hoorn - Enkhuizen
We continue our journey. Via the IJ we reach the IJsselmeer, after which we sail up along the coastline to Hoorn. This lively port city is home to many sights from the rich VOC past. In the beautiful monumental buildings you can now find various nice shops, restaurants and museums. During dinner the crew casts loose one more time for our last destination for today: Enkhuizen. The ramparts in the fishing village dating from the 17th century are well preserved. The Drommedaris is the southern gateway to the city of Enkhuizen and is the most famous building.
Thursday, April 6:
Enkhuizen - Kampen
In the past, Enkhuizen was known for its herring fishing. You can learn more about its history and life on the Zuiderzee when you visit the Zuiderzee Museum. You have the entire morning to explore Enkhuizen. This afternoon we cross the IJsselmeer to Kampen. Take a stroll through the many narrow streets of this Hanseatic city. The old facades, beautiful lanterns and inviting authentic shops reflect the history well.
Friday, April 7:
Kempen - Deventer
Kampen and Deventer are both Hanseatic cities. Due to the Hanseatic League and the favourable location on the river, trade in goods became easier and a golden age began for these cities. That rich period is still clearly reflected in the beautiful buildings in the inner cities. At the beginning of the afternoon we arrive in Deventer. When you say Deventer, you say cake. Deventer and cake are interconnected because of the Deventer Cake, which has been baked and traded here for centuries according to strict regulations. In the evening, the Captains Dinner is traditionally served, followed by a pleasant evening by the musician.
Saturday, April 8:
Deventer - Arnhem
The last day of this trip has already arrived. We leave Deventer early and sail across the IJssel to Arnhem. In the morning you can enjoy a cup of coffee with something sweet and then lunch. At 2pm we moor in Arnhem, which brings an end to this wonderful spring trip. Goodbye!
