Thursday/Tuesday:
Arnhem-Düsseldorf
The embarkation for this trip takes place in Arnhem as usual. We then lift the anchor and the Horizon sets course for Germany. It is quite a journey to Düsseldorf, which gives you the opportunity to get to know your fellow passengers during this first day of the journey. In the course of the evening we moor close to the bustling Altstadt.
Friday/Wednesday:
Dusseldorf - Cologne - Bonn
During breakfast we leave Düsseldorf behind. Cologne, our next destination, is known for its Dom, but there is much more to experience. Around the centre you will find numerous museums, including the Chocolate Museum on the Rhine. Despite the fact that Cologne has more than one million inhabitants, there is a friendly atmosphere in the centre. It is therefore very pleasant to take a walk on the kilometers long shopping promenade. In the early evening we continue our journey to Bonn, the former capital of West Germany.
Saturday/Thursday:
Bonn-Koblenz
During our trip to Koblenz we see the landscape change quickly. Around coffee time we get the Siebengebirge in sight. The first vineyards are also presenting themselves. Koblenz is located at the mouth of the Moselle and is the trading centre of the wider area. This is clearly noticeable in the largely authentic centre of the wide variety of shops and wineries.
Sunday/Friday:
Koblenz-Cochem
Early on we pass the first lock of the Moselle. Once gunned up, we really experience the difference between the Rhine and the Moselle. From now on we are surrounded by a serene tranquillity. The breath-taking panorama gives you the feeling that you have landed in a fairy tale. The river is enclosed by steep mountain slopes, often covered with vineyards, which together with the picturesque villages provide a beautiful whole. Cochem is a tourist city par excellence and it is also pleasantly busy on Sundays.
Monday/Saturday:
Cochem - Andernach
Following the stream, we once again enjoy the beautiful river valley. At Koblenz we are back on the Rhine and it will not be long before we moor in the Celtic fortified town of Andernach. In the walled centre you can still see many remains from the time of the Romans.
Tuesday/Sunday:
Andernach - Düsseldorf
After we have left Andernach, we pass the 157 meter high towers of the Cologne Cathedral again in the course of the morning. Once you have arrived in Düsseldorf, there is still enough time to take a walk to the centre. Here you can drink a glass of Alt on one of the many terraces on Bolkerstrasse, but you might prefer to look at the windows of the exclusive shops on Königsallee. Meanwhile, all preparations are being made on board for the Captains Dinner and a festive farewell evening.
Wednesday/Monday:
Düsseldorf - Arnhem
A varied journey is almost over. We cross the border around noon and arrive in Arnhem at 2pm. We are sure that you will often think back to all the beauty that we have shown you with this varied journey.
