Autumn Cruise Cochem

Autumn is the perfect period to visit the Moselle. People are working flat out in the charming wine towns to gather the grapes from the vines. This is of course the opportunity to sample a glass of wine while enjoying the wonderful surroundings!

Monday October 12: Arnhem - Düsseldorf

We leave Arnhem at 09:30 and set sail for Düsseldorf. It will be dark by the time we arrive at our destination, but even so it is still worth taking a walk through the charming Altstadt (Old Town).

Tuesday October 13: Düsseldorf - Bonn - Remagen

We left Düsseldorf early so we can arrive in Bonn after lunch. You have the afternoon free to explore the city. There are various monuments in the centre, including the beautiful Rathaus (City Hall) painted in pastel shades and built in Rococo style. You will also find a number of lovely old churches near the market place. In the house where Ludwig van Beethoven was born, now a museum, you will find the world’s biggest Beethoven collection, in honour of his 250th anniversary. During dinner we will sail on to Remagen. The river surroundings change slowly and the first vineyards come into sight.

Wednesday October 14: Remagen - Cochem

Today, we swap the powerful Rhine for the enchanting Moselle. The wine harvest is in full swing on the vineyard-covered mountains. Cochem is very popular with tourists in October and it is always a hive of activity in the Weinstuben (wine cellars). It goes without saying that we will be serving a delicious glass of wine with dinner this evening.

Thursday October 15: Cochem - Koblenz

One of the excursions you can make by yourself today in Koblenz is to the Ehrenbreitstein Fortress. From the promenade, you take a spectacular ride with the cable car, floating over the Rhine to the fortress. Enjoy the breath-taking view over the picturesque city of Koblenz, and the Deutsche Eck. This is the point where the Moselle flows into the Rhine.

Friday October 16: Koblenz - Düsseldorf

As we sail with the current, cities such as Bonn and Cologne glide by. Düsseldorf is the ideal place for some wonderful shopping. After a walk over the famous Königsallee and its luxury shopping boulevards, you simply must try a glass of ‘Alt’ (Old) beer. In the evening, you are invited to join the captain at the Captain’s Dinner.

Saturday October 17: Düsseldorf - Arnhem

This festive cruise must also come to an end. Arnhem comes into view at around 14:00 and we will moor after lunch. We wish you a good journey home.
